FAQ
1: About our products
What makes tallow beneficial for the skin?
Grass-fed tallow closely mirrors the structure of our skin’s natural oils. It’s rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, and in bioavailable lipids that help strengthen and repair the skin barrier. It absorbs easily, deeply nourishes, and supports the skin’s own healing ability.
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Our balms are formulated without synthetic fragrance, preservatives, or essential oils that commonly irritate sensitive skin. We always recommend patch testing first if you have reactive skin or known allergies.
Do your balms feel greasy?
They’re rich, but they melt into the skin quickly. A small amount is enough — when applied to slightly damp skin, tallow absorbs beautifully and leaves a soft, satin finish.
Are your products vegan?
No. Our tallow-based products use ethically sourced fat from grass-fed Dutch cattle. We are in the process of formulating plant-based blends and products as an addition to our current offering.
What is the shelf life of your balms?
Around 12 months if stored properly. Because we don’t use synthetic preservatives, we recommend keeping your balm cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight.
How should I store my balm?
Store it in a cool, shaded place with the lid tightly closed. During warm weather, refrigeration can help preserve texture.
Do you use preservatives or emulsifiers?
No. Our formulations are completely natural — we use antioxidant-rich vitamin E and careful small-batch production to keep each balm fresh.
2: Use & Ritual
How much balm should I use?
Start with a pea-sized amount and warm it between your palms. A little goes a long way. Apply to slightly damp skin for best absorption.
Can I use the balm on my face and body?
Yes. All balms are multi-purpose and safe for both face and body.
Can your balms be used as makeup removers or cleansers?
Absolutely. Massage a small amount onto dry skin, then remove with a warm, damp cloth. It dissolves makeup while leaving the skin nourished.
How do I incorporate this into my skincare routine?
Use the balm as your final step — after cleansing, toning, or applying serums. It locks in moisture and provides long-lasting nourishment.
Are your products safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Yes, though we recommend choosing blends without essential oils if you have extra sensitive skin. In case of any doubts, please consult your health practitioner for advice.
3: Sourcing & Philosophy
Where do you source your tallow and oils?
Our tallow comes from grass-fed, pasture-raised Dutch cattle. The plant oils and herbs are certified organic where possible and sourced from trusted suppliers in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Our essential oils are sourced from a premium supplier in Kannauj, India — a region renowned for its traditional distillation methods and pure quality production.
Are your ingredients organic?
Yes, where possible. We prioritize organic and wildcrafted ingredients whenever we can, and our products are always free from pesticides and GMOs. Some of our sourced ingredients lack official organic certification because certification can be costly for small farmers, though their methods remain sustainable and in line with organic principles.
What does “small batch” mean for you?
Each batch is made by hand in limited quantities to maintain freshness and quality. It allows us to control every step of the process — from infusion to pouring.
Why do you work with tallow instead of plant butters?
Tallow’s structure closely matches the skin’s natural barrier and contains nutrients plant oils alone can’t provide. It’s deeply compatible with human skin and enhances repair and hydration. We plan to expand into plant-based blends in the future as well.
Is your packaging recyclable or sustainable?
Yes. We use glass jars with aluminum lids and recyclable shipping materials. Our paper product labels are made from agricultural residues, such as the leaves and stems left over after harvesting crops like sugarcane. Instead of being burned, these by-products are upcycled into premium paper.
Do you test on animals?
Never. Our products are tested only on willing humans — ourselves, friends, and trusted testers.
What does “Native Sanctuary” mean?
“Native” reflects our return to elemental, ancestral forms of care. “Sanctuary” is the intentional space we aim to create — where skin, body, and nature meet in balance.
